We invest in existing assets that have the potential to produce more green electricity to local communities.

Hydro, wind, cogeneration grid and storage.

All our solutions are about creating more green energy for the local community from existing facilities. Based on a clear plan, Locus Energy upgrades the assets to be able to deliver more local energy already in the short term over the next 5 years. As well as living up to high environmental standards for the next 50 years.

We invest primarily in older facilities that can be upgraded and have potential due to their advantageous geographical location. This is where Locus Energy's expertise and capital can do the most good.

Hydro power

Many of the hydropower plants in the Nordic countries were planned and built decades ago – or even longer. We work with upgrades to meet new high demands and to future proof the plants for coming generations. It is about a holistic view with trade-offs between environmental benefits and increased local energy supply. Investments in new generators, digital control and battery storage create even more green electricity from the water flow. With measures such as new fish passages for upstream and downstream fish migration, improved control of flows and water levels, and purification of bottom sediments, the hydropower plants are environmentally adapted to meet the provisions of the Environmental Code.

Wind power

Many of Sweden's wind farms are today over 20 years old. The technology of that time is today outdated, and modern plants can produce many times more electricity on the same land. All wind power built before 2015 is to be replaced before 2040, a process that has only just begun. Several of the earliest wind turbines are also built on Sweden's best wind locations. With new technology, electricity production in these places can be significantly increased in a resource-efficient way. We are working on investments in new efficient turbines and battery storage to smooth out variations in production and consumption. To the greatest extent possible, existing foundations and masts are re-used to reduce climate impact.

Cogeneration

A large proportion of municipalities in the Nordic region do not have their own locally planned electricity supply. By upgrading existing local district heating plants, we are shaping solutions that allow the plants to produce not only heat but also electricity. Sweden's combined heat and power plants have the capacity to produce much more electricity. We are upgrading existing heating plants with steam boilers, turbines and heat storage that create modern combined heat and power plants that contribute more local electricity production.

Grid & storage.

Consumers and businesses are putting increasing demands on the local energy system. With new technologies such as storage and smart grids, the local energy system is increasingly important to meet the demands of stable and cost-effective green energy supply. Since Locus Energy is a completely supplier-independent player, we are free from all vested interests and do not favor one technology over the other. We are technology and solution agnostic. Together with our experts, we always make an overall assessment of which investments that can create the most local value from both an energy and environmental perspective.

"

An external partner can contribute with experience and expertise but also share costs and investments that make our local energy company even more efficient.
