We are a long-term active owner and developer of small-scale sustainable infrastructure for energy production in the Nordic region.

LOCUS ENERGY IN 30 S.

Long-term vision

We are a long-term active and development-intensive owner of existing local sustainable energy production infrastructure in the Nordic region.

Systems expertise

We combine industrial systems expertise with market and regulatory expertise, financial solutions and long-term institutional Nordic pension capital.

Collaboration

We help municipal and private owners to drive the transition towards a sustainable, robust and competitive local energy supply in partnership.
OUR IDEA

We are accelerating development.

Waiting for new national grids and new large-scale centralized energy production with untested technologies often takes decades. The fastest and most sustainable route to new energy is therefore not to build new - but to create more from what already exists.

At Locus Energy, we work on local solutions that create more energy from existing plants. In doing so, we create as little carbon footprint as possible. And avoid years of permitting and construction processes.

An increased rate of investment.

New innovative technologies and solutions create new opportunities for regions and municipalities. But also requires both capital and skills to be realised.

Often the challenge is greater than what existing owners can undertake themselves.

Locus Energy is the partner that makes a faster journey possible than what can be achieved with own financing and expertise. Together with the current owners, we are enabling that transformation of local energy assets and systems.

The energy future is local.

Local production of green energy needs to increase. It is a necessity for viable, robust and competitive societies.

Around the Nordic region, there are industries and communities that cannot wait any longer for more local electricity production. A few seconds of power outages in a process industry can lead to weeks of production disruptions. Companies that are ready to invest in new businesses and new jobs have to postpone plans for the future due to a lack of electricity. It's not sustainable.

Our solution is based on quickly producing more electricity from the plants that already exist.

The greenest is what already exists.

Using existing energy facilities more efficiently, instead of building new ones, is the best way to cope with the green transition. This avoids large amounts of new building material, concrete and steel, which consume significant amounts of carbon dioxide even before the new plant can produce a single kilowatt-hour of new electricity. In addition, already exploited land and other resources are re-used in the most efficient way.

Holistic view

We take a holistic perspective on the local energy system where different types of energy sources, suppliers and consumers increasingly need to collaborate.

We are modernizing and upgrading the local energy system to work with a new energy mix and new user patterns. Hydropower, bio-fired cogeneration, wind power and grids are Locus Energy's main investment areas. Complemented by investments in, for example, thermal energy storage and batteries as well as modern control and maintenance, the local energy system can deliver much more than it does today.
HOW WE STEER
HOW WE STEER

Green Return Rate as important as return on capital.

The goal of every investment in Locus Energy is for green energy production to increase. Through a clear plan for upgrading, it is ensured that every euro invested is of maximum benefit both in terms of increased green local energy and a good return.
OUR PROCESS

The local development journey.

Together with the current owners, Locus Energy is developing a step-by-step plan for the local development journey. An initial acquisition is just the first step. At least as important is to jointly identify necessary and value-adding additional investments to increase energy production and robustness in the coming years, such as storage. A further step is to identify opportunities for local refinement of electricity and energy, such as biogas or hydrogen production. Ultimately, this is about creating the right conditions for green business development and attractive living environments.
